What is the Paleo Diet?

The Paleo diet is highly nutritious and recommended for anyone who wants to live a healthy lifestyle. It is believed that many of the modern diseases such as diabetes, obesity and others are caused by the modern diet, which is full of processed food that has chemical enhancers and preservatives. These chemicals get into the bloodstream and cause damage to tissues and organs.

A Paleo diet eliminates processed food completely. That means there is no refined sugar, trans fats, or processed meat in the diet. The diet also restricts the consumption of grains, legumes, dairy, potatoes, salt and refined vegetable oils.

The focus is completely on lean meats, which promote healthy bones, muscles and boosts the immune system. It is believed that wild meat is generally leaner and higher in proteins, whereas meat produced by grain-fed animals has much higher fat content. Free-range meat is highly recommended. The same is true for eggs. Organic eggs are better and most recommended for the Paleo diet.

The prime focus is also on fresh fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals that are required for the health of the body on a daily basis.

Studies have proven that consuming more fruits and vegetables actually helps in preventing degenerative diseases like cancer and heart disease.

Nuts and seeds are given a lot of importance as well. These super foods are gold mines for omega-3 fatty acids. This is the healthy kind of fat our body needs.

HERE ARE A FEW EXAMLES of a typical Paleo diet for one day:
